In your marriage, you both have vowed to serve one another for the rest of your lives together. If you want to know how to serve your spouse the best way possible, look to the life of Christ. He was and is the greatest servant of all. He did everything without expecting anything in return from those He helped. He didn't ask for praise or money, He didn't exalt Himself above them, but He raised them up to where He was and walked and talked with them gently guiding, leading, and showing them the way to eternal life. All they had to do was believe in who He was, repent, forsake their sins, and follow after Him.
If you both will model yourselves after Christ, your marriage will be better than you have ever expected!
1 Corinthians 7:1-5
"Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency."
Paul had received word that some things were not right concerning some of the membership in the Church at Corinth and he had to send word back through this letter to help them get straightened back out.
Take some considerable time and study out the verses of scripture above and I would even encourage you to talk these verses out with your spouse. Pray together and ask God to help you follow after His Word and be pleasing to Him in your marriage!
You giving of yourself to your spouse physically, keeps them from seeking it elsewhere. You are keeping them from temptation and literally keeping them from spiritual destruction. Your role in your marriage is so important for the success of your marriage!
